ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1 Mumbai – Hubli – Badami
The best of Karnataka tour of 5 days starts with arrival at Hubli Airport.  Drive to historic city of Badami

Day 2 Badami – Pattadakal – Aihole – Hospet
Proceed for sight seeing tour of Badami was the capital of the Chalukyan Empire from 543-757 AD. The ancient name is Vatapi the city has lot of Hindu and Jain temples and a Buddhist cave temple ( exactly like Ajanta Caves near Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra).  All the remains are very peaceful and Charming.  The city is also known for the numerous sculptures and friezes, one of the caves also has frescoes comparable to those at Ajanta.   After the visit to Badami temple caves proceed to the city of Pattadakal.  The ancient name as per UNESCO world Herigate Sites it was also known as Raktapura

Durga temple well known for its sculptures & rock cut Shiva temple at Aihole are the main attractions set amidst red sandstone hills, rock-hewn tanks and peaceful farmlands, the rural village of Aihole is the cradle of stone temple architecture of the Southern Dravida School.     Made with just 630 small stone blocks is the the Meguti temple These were the first few built temples most were originally dedicated to Vishnu.

Proceed to Hospet just 13 km from the second biggest attraction in the vicinity the Jog Falls, the Vijayanagar ruins of Hampi, a World Heritage center.  You can also visit Tungabhadra Dam or Pampa Sagar

Day 3 Hospet – Hampi – Hospet
Visit Hampi – The great capital city of great Vijayanagar Empire. Visit the ruins of palaces, temples and sculptures. Vitthala temple, is a World Heritage monument is a highlight of this sight which dates back to 16^th century. The Virupaksha temple famous for its painted mandapam ceiling. Do not forget to visit Hazara Rama temple, with a huge Ganesha and Narasimha images,

Day 4 Hospet – Anegundi – Hubli
Older than Hampi is the birth place of Lord Shri Hanuman – Anegudi which was also known as Kishkindha.  This was the first capital of the Vijaynagar Empire.   Pampa Sarovar which is always full of white lily flowers is one more attraction to this place. Also visit the Anjaneya Temple atop the Anjanadri hill & the Anegundi Fort which houses a Durga & Ganesh temple.

Day 5 Hubli – Mumbai
Transfer to Airport / Railway station to connect onward destination.
