Coastal Karnataka - 7 Days

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1: Mumbai – Mangalore

Mangalore one of the largest cities in Karnataka and well known for its port and named after Mangla Devi.  On arrival our representative will escort you to your vehicle and then proceed to your pre booked hotel.

Mangalore is a pleasant hilly costal city on Arabian Sea coast  is a very important shipbuilding dockyard and a strategic port in Sourth India.  Cashew and Coffee export is main trade from the port.     Roman Catholic influence is a speciality of the town.  Beaches and thousand pillar Jain temple at Moodbidri & the Manjunatheshwara temple at Dharmasthala dedicated to Lord Shiva are must visit places of tourist interest.   Other famous Temple in town is the Kukke Sri Subrahmanya temple where  elder son of Lord Shiva Kartikeya is worshipped as Subrahmanya.

Day 2: Mangalore – Udupi 

After breakfast set out for local sightseeing of Mangalore. Visit the 10th century tile-roofed Mangala Devi temple dedicated to a form of Shakti and the Shreemanthi Bai memorial museum whose collection includes porcelain, wood carvings, and archaeological and ethnological exhibits. Also take a tour of red tile and cashew nut factories and visit the St. Alosyius Chapel with fresco-covered walls and ceiling. Later drive towards Udupi. On arrival check in to your pre-booked hotel.
In the evening visit Kapu beach or spend your evening at leisure.

Day 3 Udupi

Shri Krishna temple of Udupi is an icon of the South India.  The history of the temple dates back to 13th century which was founded by the Vaisnavite saint Shri Madhavacharya and the Lort Krishna can be viewed and worshipped only through a window with nine holes called the Navagraha Kindi.  Also visit adjoining temples of  which are more than 2000year old i.e. Chandramouleeswara and Anantheshwara Temple.  Visti to Kudlu Teertha falls & the Coin Museum is memorable highlight of the day.  And in the evening visit the Durgaparmeshwari temple to experience the lighting and special evening Aarti.

Day 4 Udupi- Murudeshwar 

Drive from Udupi to Murudeshwar is a scenic costal drive with WOW spots on the way. A major city in Uttar Kannada based on the coast of Arabian sea is Murudeshwar which is hosting a second tallest statue (123ft) of Lord Shiva in the world.
Check in to your pre-booked hotel. Visit the Murudeshwar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva with a 20 storey high Gopura and at 249ft tall is considered the tallest Gopura in the world. This area was ruled by Vijayanagar dynasty a Murudeshwar fort stands tall to tell you history of the dynasty.  Evening visit the Bhatkal beach which is located near the Murudeshwar temple.   One more place you must keep time is for the sports activity at the Netrani Island which is about 20 notical miles from the main land to enjoy the water sports.

Day 5 Murudeshwar – Karwar 

About two hours drive from Murdeshwar is one more beautiful destination of Uttar Karnataka. Karwar is based on the mouth of the Kali River.  An ancient city used by Arabs , Europeans and Britishers for trade.  A beautiful streach of beach named after Shri Rabindranath Tagore is main attraction of the town.  City also hosts modern recreation parks , Planetarium and aquarium.  Ulavi Caves which is religious importance for Lingayat sect and Rock Ston Garden on Kali River is also a interest to visitors.

A great day can end with a great view of sunset from the Kali River Bridge.

Day 6 Karwar

Full day at leisure to explore city on your own for shopping and enjoying local delicacies or any spot you missed on earlier days.

Day 7 Karwar – Mumbai

With a memorable finale you will escorted to airport / railway station to connect your onward destination.
