ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1 Baidyanath

Arrive at Jasidhi by train and meet our representative. After some rest visit Baidyanath Jyotirlinga where Shiva is said to reside as a Vaidya along with Shakti.

Day 2 Jasidhi – Kolkata

After breakfast board your train for Kolkata. On arrival check in to your hotel. The city of Calcutta, now called Kolkata, was established by the British in 1690 and was the capital of British India until 1911. It is the proud intellectual capital of India, with a rich contemporary cultural life. The city retains some of India’s most striking colonial buildings, and is also home to the country’s first underground railway.After some rest visit the Dakshineshwar Kali temple & Belur Math.

Day 3 Kolkata – Gangasagar

After breakfast reach ferry point from where you will take a ferry to Gangasagar. On arrival check in to your pre-booked hotel. After some rest visit the Kapil Muni Ashram. You can also have a dip at the sangam (confluence) of the Ganga meeting the sea.

Day 4 

After breakfast transfer to Kolkata. Board your train for Puri.

Day 5 Puri

On arrival check in to your pre-booked hotel. The seaside resort of Puri,  is one of the four holiest pilgrimage spots in India. The skyline is dominated by the great Jagannath temple. A large part of Puri’s population is, one way or the other, connected with the temple. The Rath Yatra or car festival held here every June/July is one of India’s greatest annual religious events. Puri’ long stretch of golden beach is its other attraction. The friendly place, with a relaxed atmosphere, is a big draw for people seeking to combine pilgrimage with relaxation.

After freshening up visit Jagannath temple, Bedi Hanuman and Gundecha Temple. Visit Puri beach in the evening.

Day 6 Puri

After breakfast visit the Sun temple at Konark. Konark, 35 km from Puri, is one of the most vivid architectural treasures of Hindu India and a World Heritage Site. It is famous for its 13th century Sun Temple, the most striking example of Kalinga architecture. It is designed as a huge chariot to the Sun God, having twelve pairs of great wheels and drawn by seven exquisitely carved and ornamented horses. Each wheel functions as a working sundial. The sculptures depict every aspect of life: hunting, dance and music, court scenes, mythology, erotic figures, war scenes etc. There is also a shrine depicting the nine planets. A Dance Festival is staged at Konark every December.

Later visit Nandankanan Zoo, Dhauli Buddhist monastery & State museum.

Overnight at Puri

Day 7 Puri – Bhubaneshwar

After breakfast proceed towards Bhubaneshwar. En route visit Khandagiri & Udaigiri caves dating back to the 3rd century BC. The Udaygiri and Khandagiri caves are situated in hills 6 km from the city. These Jain caves, many with ornate carvings, are some of the oldest in India. Most are thought to have been chiseled out by Jain monks in the 1st century BC. The caves have a range of carvings in secular and religious themes. The Parsvanatha temple on top of Khandagiri was built in the early 19th century. Also visit Chausath Yogini temple, Pipli artisan village & Dhauli Rock Edicts, the site of Ashoka’s famous rock edicts dating to about 260 BC.

After arriving in Bhubaneshwar visit Lingaraj temple, Rajarani temple, Parshurameshwar temple & Mukteshwar temple. These temples are some of the best specimens of Orissa temple architecture.

Later drop at Bhubaneshwar airport/ railway station from where you will board your flight/train for home.
