Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara

Distance & Travel Time:

  • Nairobi to Maasai Mara:280 km (5-6 hours) drive via the Great Rift Valley.

Itinerary:

  • Morning:Pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or airport. A full briefing on your safari adventure.
  • En Route:Stop at the Great Rift Valley Viewpoint for breathtaking panoramic views and photography.
  • Lunch:Enjoy a local Kenyan meal in Narok town, a bustling Maasai market town.
  • Afternoon:Arrive at Masai Mara National Reserve, followed by an introductory game drive. Spot elephants, lions, giraffes, and other wildlife as you drive through the vast savannah.
  • Evening:Check-in at your camp/lodge, followed by a delicious dinner and relaxation under the African sky.

Day 2: Maasai Mara Full-Day Safari

Itinerary:

  • Early Morning:Depart for a sunrise game drive, one of the best times to see predators like lions and cheetahs on the hunt.
  • Mid-Morning:Continue exploring different sections of the reserve, keeping an eye out for the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo).
  • Lunch:Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Hippo Pool, where you can observe hippos and crocodiles in the Mara River.
  • Afternoon:Visit the Mara River crossing points, especially during the Great Migration season (July–October), when thousands of wildebeests cross the crocodile-infested river.
  • Evening:Return to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

  • 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM:Optional Maasai Village Tour (if not taken on Day 2).
  • Mid-Morning:Depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, home to flamingos, rhinos, and leopards.
  • Lunch:En route or upon arrival at the lodge.
  • Afternoon:Enjoy a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its pink-hued flamingos, endangered rhinos, and the elusive tree-climbing lions.

Itinerary:

  • Early Morning:Breakfast at the lodge, followed by a morning game drive.
  • Wildlife Highlights:
    • Thousands of flamingos and pelicans along the lake shores.
    • Black and white rhinos, part of the park’s conservation efforts.
    • Leopards, Rothschild’s giraffes, zebras, baboons, and Columbus monkeys.
  • Midday:Depart for Nairobi, arriving late afternoon.
  • Drop-off:Nairobi hotel or airport for your onward journey.
