ITINERARY OVERVIEW
Day 1: Mumbai – Amritsar
Upon your arrival in Amritsar, you will be warmly greeted by a Basil Leaf representative and escorted to your pre-booked hotel.
Amritsar, founded in 1577 by Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh Guru, holds deep historical and spiritual significance. Known as the “Pool of the Nectar of Immortality,” it serves as the spiritual center of Sikhism. Once a pivotal trading hub, Amritsar is now the second-largest city in Punjab. Its crown jewel is the Golden Temple, the holiest shrine in Sikhism, nestled in a sacred tank that lends the city its name.
In the evening, witness the mesmerizing sight of the Golden Temple illuminated by night, a truly serene experience.

Day 2: Amritsar Sightseeing
After breakfast, embark on a half-day city tour of Amritsar. Begin with a visit to the revered Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), a stunning structure crafted from white marble and copper gilt, with its majestic dome adorned in gold leaf. Inside, the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhism, is enshrined. You’ll also visit the langar (community kitchen), which provides free meals to around 30,000 people daily, highlighting the Sikh principle of selfless service.
Next, visit Jallianwala Bagh, the site of the tragic 1919 massacre, which stands as a somber reminder of India’s struggle for independence. Continue to Gobindgarh Fort, a historical monument now transformed into a cultural showcase of Punjab’s rich history, and the Partition Museum, home to poignant exhibits chronicling the partition of India in 1947.
In the afternoon, proceed to the Attari-Wagah border, where you’ll witness the electrifying “Beating the Retreat” ceremony. As the sun sets, soldiers from India and Pakistan perform a choreographed flag-lowering ceremony, surrounded by patriotic fervor and roaring crowds.

Day 3: Amritsar – Katra – Amritsar
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Katra (approx. 260 km, 4 hours 53 min), located in the picturesque foothills of the Himalayas. Katra is famous for being the base camp for the revered Mata Vaishno Devi Temple. According to legend, pilgrims visiting this temple are blessed with the fulfillment of their wishes.
Upon arrival, head to the helipad for your pre-arranged helicopter ride to the Vaishno Devi Temple (advance booking required). After receiving the sacred darshan, return to Katra.

Day 4: Katra – Jammu – Onward Journey
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Jammu. En route, visit the revered Raghunath Temple, a renowned spiritual landmark. From here, continue to either Jammu or Amritsar airport/railway station to connect with your onward journey.
