ITINERARY OVERVIEW

SVHC – 113 – 8N/9D- North East Paradise

(Kaziranga 2N /Shillong 2N/Cherrapunji 2N/ Guwahati 2N )

Day 01: Guwahati Airport / Rly Station – Kaziranga National Park (220 kms / 5 hrs.)

On arrival at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station & transfer to Kaziranga National Park, the home of “One Horned Rhinoceros”, Check in at your hotel. Evening is free for leisure.

Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Day 02: Kaziranga National Park(Elephant & Jeep Safari Charges are not included in the package).

Kaziranga, the World Heritage Site is the oldest park in Assam & is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Kaziranga National Park is a natural habitat for conservation of biologically diverse flora & fauna. It is inhabited by the world’s largest population of one-horned Rhinoceroses besides sheltering about 15 species of India’s threatened mammals. There are numerous other major wildlife fauna.

Early morning go for Elephant ride @5-30 A.M/6: 30 A.M./ 7 :30 A.M.( Subject to allotment from forest departmen. Return for Breakfast to hotel. After breakfast proceed for Jeep safari in the Central Range ,With Kohora as the entry point, the Central Range covers the Daphlang and Kathpora. Return to the hotel.

Elephant rides are all regulated and controlled by the forest Dept. Govt. of Assam. We do not have any control on the booking. Elephant rides & Jeep safari are subject to availability only with additional cost.

Day 03: Kaziranga National Park – Shillong (280 kms /6- 7 hrs.)

After breakfast proceed for Shillong (4,900 ft.), called ‘Scotland of the East”. Enroute visit Umium Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills. On arrival at Shillong, check in at your hotel. Evening is free for leisure.

Day 04: Excursion to Mawlynnong (90 kms / 3 hrs.) + Dawki (Indo Bangladesh Border)
After early breakfast drive to Mawlynnong – “Asia’s Cleanest Village”. Mawlynnong offers many interesting sights such as the living root bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another small rock.

Mawlynnong Village –  Mawlynnong village, situated 90 kms ahead of Shillong on the Shillong- Dawki Road, 30 kms from Pynursla, is a village of 75 households with a population of 400. An idyllic location, this village epitomizes a standard, which all other villages need to aspire to be. Dubbed the cleanest village in India by Discover India Magazine, the primary Village School till class V boasts of its no dropout record and the village of 90 % literacy. Paved walkways and beautiful flowerbed all along mark the village, with waterfalls, a living root bridge, hilly rivulets, acacia plantation and an excellent view of the faraway plains of Bangladesh all contribute to the ambience of this village. Farming of betel nut & leaves, broomsticks and pepper along with bee rearing are the primary economic activity of this Village and with the village headman himself taking the responsibility of making visitors comfortable, a day in this village gives an insight into the life of the Khasis, the influence of the Church and its metamorphosis. (Also visit the Tree House, Living Root Bridge, Sky View Point, Balancing rock).

Dawki:

Dawki the last town in Mawlynnong, Dawki lies but 2 Kms from Bangladesh. Despite the fact that the area is located in a place that has been for years demanding development, one is amazed by the quality of the roads, and the road to Dawki perhaps epitomizes the idyllic hill drive. The black metalled road, offset by the rich, wet green and dark red-brown patches offered a smooth contrast that technology can scarcely capture. The cool, wet air brushes over your face and refreshes and revitalizes you as it enters your body. Dawki is a small village and its main attraction is the Umngot River that marks the natural separation between the Khasi and the Jaintia Hills. The river can be forded by a suspension bridge that connectsIndia to Bangladesh and facilitates trade between the two nations. The Umngot is the site for a boat race that is held in March-April, but evenotherwise, seeing this large emerald-green serpent threading its way through the hills, with fishermen’s boats dotting its surface, right into the plains of Bangladesh, is a sight whose majesty echoes long after you leave it. Then back to Shillong..Check into the hotel & rest.

Day 05: Shillong  to Cherrapunji (60 kms / 2 hrs))

After breakfast check Out from Hotel & transfer  to Cherrapunji (4,400 ft.), the wettest place in the world. On the way enjoy Mawkdok Valley, Nohkalikai falls, Dainthelen Falls and Ramkrishna Mission (drive pass), Garden Of Caves. On arrival at Cherrapunji, check in at your hotel.

Day 06:  CherrapunjiLocal Sightseeing

After breakfast we get ready for a half day trek to visit the Double Decker Living Root Bridge deep inside the jungle. It will take 3 to 4 hrs (depending on the physical fitness of the person). Afternoon visit Nohsngithiang Falls (also known as the Seven Sisters Waterfalls or Mawsmai Falls), Mawsmai Cave, Koh Ram Hah and Ecopark. Evening back to the hotel.

Overnight stay at Cherrapunji.

Day 07: Cherrapunji  to Guwahati (160 Kms/ 6 Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Guwahati, enroute visit Elephanta falls. Arrive and check in at hotel. Evening visit ‘Kalakshetra’, a place where Assamese history and culture(If Time Permit). Return to hotel.

Overnight stay at Guwahati.

Day 08: Guwahati Local Sightseeing

After breakfast out to visit Kamakhya Temple,Tirupati Balaji Temple, Nabagraha Templ Sukreswar Temple (The 6th Jyotirlinga of Shiva, Ropeway.

Evening we suggest an optional tour of Golden sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra (Direct Payment by own).

Day 09: Guwahati Airport / Rly Station

After breakfast Check Out From Hotel & Transfer to Guwahati Airport/ Railway Station &for your onward journey with sweet memories of Assam & Meghalaya..

 

Note: AC will not work in hill area. For travelling in ASSAM-MEGHALAYA guest has to carry minimum luggage (As per Assam Govt. rules carrier is not allowed in vehicle).
