ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1: NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport – Phuentsholing (152 km / 3h 37m)
Arrive at NJP Railway Station or IXB Airport, where you’ll be warmly greeted. Begin your scenic journey to Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan. This lively town on the northern Indian plains offers a unique cultural blend. Check in to your hotel on arrival.

Day 2: Phuentsholing – Thimphu (165 km / 4h 34m)
Complete immigration formalities after breakfast, then proceed to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu (7,710 ft). Settle into your hotel and later, explore the impressive Tashichho Dzong, Bhutan’s “Fortress of the Glorious Religion.”

Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing
Begin with a visit to the Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue), followed by stops at the National Memorial Chorten and the Folk Heritage Museum. In the afternoon, enjoy panoramic views from Sangaygang View Point, visit the Changangkha Monastery, and see Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin, at the Preserve Center. End the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong.

Day 4: Thimphu – Dochu-La Pass – Punakha/Wangdue (71.6 km / 1h 54m)
Travel to Punakha via the stunning Dochu-La Pass (10,170 ft), where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas and see the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. In Punakha, visit Punakha Dzong, a historic fortress by the river, and Chhimi Lhakhang, known as the “Temple of Fertility.”
