ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu (50.8 km / Approx. 1 hr 20 min)
Upon arrival at Paro Airport, you’ll be greeted by our representative and transferred to Thimphu, the lively capital of Bhutan (7,710 ft). After settling in at your hotel, embark on an afternoon tour of Thimphu’s highlights. Visit Kuensel Phodrang, home to the Buddha Dordenma statue with sweeping views of the city, the National Memorial Chorten, a revered site of worship, and Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and monastic institutions. Conclude with a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum, showcasing Bhutan’s cultural heritage.

Day 2: Thimphu – Dochu La Pass – Punakha/Wangdue (101 km / Approx. 3 hrs)
After breakfast, head to Punakha, journeying through the scenic Dochu La Pass (10,350 ft), where panoramic views of the Himalayas unfold on clear days. On arrival in Punakha, check into your hotel, then explore Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel dating back to 1637. In the afternoon, take a short trip to Chimi Lhakhang, the renowned “Temple of Fertility,” built by Lama Drukpa Kunley, fondly known as the “Divine Madman.”

Day 3: Excursion to Gangtey Valley (Phobjikha)
After breakfast, venture to the captivating Gangtey Valley (9,840 ft), a tranquil haven and winter home to the rare Black-Necked Crane. Explore the valley and visit Gangtey Monastery, a significant religious site with stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Return to Punakha in the evening for a relaxed overnight stay.

Day 4: Punakha/Wangdue – Paro (113 km / Approx. 3 hrs)
Following breakfast, drive to Paro, stopping en route at Lamperi’s Royal Botanical Park, known for its rich biodiversity, including rare and endangered flora. Once in Paro, check in at your hotel and tour Ta Dzong, the National Museum, which houses an exquisite collection of Bhutanese art. Continue to Rinpung Dzong, the “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels,” for insights into Bhutan’s heritage. Evening at leisure.

Day 5: Paro – Taktsang Monastery and Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, embark on a memorable excursion to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, or “Tiger’s Nest,” perched dramatically on a cliffside. This rewarding 2-hour hike offers panoramic views and a profound spiritual experience. Later, visit the historic Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples.

Day 6: Departure from Paro
Enjoy breakfast before checking out and transferring to Paro Airport for your departure, leaving with treasured memories of Bhutan’s awe-inspiring beauty and timeless culture.
